Man Charged After Firing Rounds In Dutchess Apartment Complex, Police Say

A man is facing charges after police say he fired three rounds in an apartment complex in Hyde Park.

New York State Police say they were dispatched via Dutchess County 911 to Pinebrook Drive in the town of Hyde Park for a report of gunfire on Saturday, June 8 around 6:40 p.m.

Further investigation revealed that an armed subject, identified as Jeffrey Tompkins, 64, of Hyde Park, had fired three gunshots from a Smith and Wesson 9MM shield semi-automatic pistol into his apartment wall during a domestic dispute, according to police.

Police say Tompkins surrendered without further incident. He was charged with three counts of first-degree reckless endangerment and was scheduled to appear at Hyde Park Court on Tuesday, June 11.
